Each year, some 44,000 Canadians
die of a heart attack. Half of the time death occurs before the victim
reaches the hospital.
Only 3.% of Quebec
residents are
trained to perform C. P. R., and 2.3% of all
victims are saved. In Seattle, 43% of all victims are saved
while 66% of the people are trained to SAVE A LIFE.
CPR is the short form cardiopulmonary resuscitation. CPR is an emergency procedure used
when a person is not breathing and their heart supplied has stopped beating. The
purpose
of CPR is to keep the brain and heart supplied with blood and oxygen until medical help
arrives. CPR can be used for an adult, child or infant.
